I came across this animated conversation between Charles Bukowski and his producer during the recording session for his book ‘Run With the Hunted.‘ It’s uncensored, so if you’re afraid of bad language… well, you should probably get off the internet.
So many quotes I could pull from just this short conversation, but the one that really resonated with me was this.
‘What’s past is past, I don’t wanna linger over it, read it and play with it, jolly it up. It’s gone, it’s done. If you can’t write the next line, well, you’re dead. The past doesn’t matter.’
I share these sentiments when it comes to my writing. Almost the second after I finish writing it, it’s already gone from my head and I never feel the need to look at it again.
So powerful words as always from the counterculture icon. If you enjoyed the animation, you can find loads more of these at the Quoted Studios website.
